  • Intercollegial snow sculpture competition

For more than 20 years, the intercollegial snow sculpture competition has been held in downtown Rivière-du-Loup.

This unique competition has CÉGEP students from across the province carve a giant block of snow on Lafontaine Street. Over a weekend, the artists must work as a team, follow the chosen theme and make the most of their talents as sculptors, while braving the arctic cold! An intense ambiance, budding artists from all over Québec, very attractive scholarships and, above all, an unforgettable experience in Rivière-du-Loup!

  • Vues dans la tête de...

The annual film festival Vues dans la tête de… gives a Québec director carte blanche to assemble the entire program. In the past five years, Micheline Lanctôt, Anne Émond, Stéphane Lafleur, Sébastien Pilote and Hugo Latulippe have shared their latest offerings and their favourite films of the moment.

This event showcases the full diversity of Québec films with a program of French-language feature-length fictional films, shorts, and documentaries.

The organization also includes a broader range of films screened throughout the Kamouraska, Rivière-du-Loup, Témiscouata and Les Basques regions.

  • La Magie de Noël

This Christmas magic event hosted by the City of Rivière-du-Loup brings together in one place all activities related to Christmas, presented by community organizations. Starting in November, during the Noël chez nous festival, residents and visitors are invited to discover the talent of our own little elves, who spare no effort to create Christmas magic in the streets and people’s hearts.

In his first public appearance of the year, Santa Claus, decked out in red to contrast with his long white beard, takes part in the majestic parade along Lafontaine Street. You may even catch a glimpse of him doing his Christmas shopping in the local craft market.

Rivière-du-Loup is a little closer than travelling to the North Pole…
